Recently, there have been three nearby incidents involving University community members - a robbery and a larceny adjacent to the Medical Center, and one attempted robbery along the river path off University property.
A student was the victim of the larceny at about 5:00 p.m. on May 9, 2013, on Mt. Hope Ave. She was approached by a male suspect who grabbed her arms and took her cell phone and keys. The suspect then ran northeast on Mt. Hope Ave.
A student was the victim of the attempted robbery at about 10:00 p.m. on May 10, 2013, on the river path behind the Staybridge Hotel. He was approached by three male youths who demanded his bicycle. He refused and was struck in the face by one of the youths. The three then ran from the area.
A staff member was the victim of the robbery and assault at about 3:30 p.m. on May 12, 2013, in the Castleman Rd. and Elmerston St. area. She was approached from behind by a male suspect and after a brief struggle was struck in the face and had her wallet and cell phone taken. The suspect then fled toward Mt. Hope Ave.
Rochester Police are investigating these incidents and increasing patrols in the area.
